At the beginning of this cartoon series aired in 1999 in the United States and created by Stephen Hillenburg, a marine biologist and animator, and published by his company, United Plankton Pictures Inc.. This cartoon series aired on Nickelodeon channels menerusi Malaysia and TV3, TV9 and also through a channel that has been translated into Malay.
In Indonesia this series popularized by Lativi (now TvOne), then the right to broadcast the events produced by Nickelodeon bought by Global TV. This cartoon was created by a marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg and then released through United Plankton Pictures Inc. company.
